| The Constance Joan Schneider Conte ALS Group, Inc.
ALS, Lou Gehrig's disease affects a patients nervous system and begins with the loss of speech, in time diminishes the patients ability to swallow, decreases the patients ability to use their fingers and destroys the neurons that control any muscle movement in their arms and legs. Ultimately a stomach tube must be inserted to maintain the feeding process. A caregiver must pay close attention to the personal hygiene and feeding needs of the ALS patient.
Unfortunately, many caregivers cannot afford to pay for help to relieve them from their continuous watch over the ALS or Cancer patient and they cannot get a doctor to make a house call and must be transported by ambulance to see a doctor. Based on this premise, this ALS Group will work with your community to help you identify and to pay for a person to relieve a caregiver for one to two hours a week from their arduous task, and attempt to locate a doctor who may consider a home visit.
Our core mission was to provide relief to ALS & Cancer patients and their care-givers. In last couple of years we have expanded our mission to provide relief to support caregivers for other terminal illnesses as well as using the foundation funds to provide fresh water tube wells for families in India where 400,000 people die annually from water borne diseases. The fresh water campaign is attempting to bring bottled water to some of the 45% of families in Appalachia that need fresh water. Every penny that is contributed to the foundation is spent for these projects as it is received. The money received from the sale of the books shown below is placed in its entirety into the foundation coffers. No salaries or expenses are paid from the donations or sales of books. Everything is tax deductible and the author will sign the books sold on request.
Our Goal is to help as many individuals or families as we can by providing financial reimbursement for various fees associated with a traumatic event. Our Process is simple; we identify a need for assistance, and then provide financial support to individuals. • Our Services include reimbursement for doctor visits to homebound patients. This can be short or long-term illness where the patient can not be moved with ease. Our payment, while not in total, is intended to cushion the impact of the increased financial needs during such a time. • Our Services include reimbursement of relief for primary caregiver; this relief usually is through the use of intermittent non-professional providers. In the case of a long term illness, the value of this relief can be critical, as it has been shown that caregivers need time-off to be effective. • Our Services include providing limited support to these victims in a synergism with other non-profit organizations such as Children International.. • We have policies and procedures in place to ensure that the individuals and families we are helping have a need, sufficient documentation, and proper identification. We will work to identify medical professionals who can provide home visits, and provide financial support to ALS patients for this service.
The fact that an ALS patient could not find a cure for ALS and died from it... is also a mission of this group, we will support research to find a cure. The founder and author Joseph J. Conte provides the details of what ALS is all about in his first book, in the hopes to help others.......
